“Alliance for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in the Region of Bansko” non-profit organization was founded in November, 2002, in Bansko by tourism professionals closely engaged with the overall development of Bansko region. The organization has proven to be a sustainable model for cooperation between hoteliers, restaurant owners, transport and sport companies, the Balkan Holidays tour operator company, and the ski center operator company Ulen.
The mission of the organization is to promote the development of local tourism and to improve local services, and at the same time, on a broader scale, to build and promote the image of Bansko as a world-class winter sports center and a year-round mountain resort. The high bar has already been set during the 2003-2004 Winter Season Opening in Bansko by skier Alberto Tomba who said that Bansko is “the best ski resort in Eastern Europe”.
Our invitation is “See, hear, taste Bansko!” This brief line emphasizes the unique interrelation of Bansko’s past of an authentic medieval village and the dynamics of its brand new ski area and growing number of high-class hotels. It is also an invitation to open all senses for the year-round experience of the Pirin Mountain.
In 2003 the organization published its first brochure (in Bulgarian, English, German, and Russian) which is an extensive presentation of all members and it has already traveled to national and international tourism fairs. Since 2003, representatives of the “Alliance for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in the Region of Bansko” non-profit organization have attended major tourism fairs in London, Berlin, and Moscow.
